34 degrees here this morning and now the clouds are dispersing and we have some sun. Looks to be a nice day, very cold predicted for the weekend though.
Starting Friday night with rain/snow and then it will get cold. I finally checked out the SN of the new .22 that Kevin pointed out to me and found out it was
made in 1953 the same year I was born. That's kind of neat. Another boring day at work with little to do, makes the days drag on.

Good morning, all. Was in the low twenties this morning, a 30% chance of snow tomorrow night. Supposed to get cold this weekend then warm up again. We'll
see on that. I just talked to my boss and he is expecting a high of -1F with a low of -15F. He lives in Montana, and that whold state is a refrigerator hole.
Cisco, your .22 and mine are close in sn's, and made the same year. The M10-5 I got this weekend was made in 1970. It is pinned but not recessed. I think I was told that none of the M-10's were recessed, but I haven't looked that up yet. Still admiring the pictures in the new book.lol Kevin in Or. |

I'm pretty sure none of the model 10's were recessed. I remember reading that somewhere. Kevin there is a big storm moving in to the coast of WA this
weekend. We will be getting rain, then snow then cold. Are you going to get any of this storm down where you are?

Rainy here today.I had an appointment with the pulmonary doctor.I guess I am going to live.He said he would see me again next June.
One of my neighbors bought the Marlin 45/70 lever gun for a Christmas present for his son.I sold the 24/47 to a collector in Charlotte,NC. We are driving to West Georgia on Saturday morning for my side of the family Christmas get together/dinner.Long ass drive for one day.At least it is held at my nephew's place out in the country.100 acres,a nice house and a lake.

I was cleaning all the spam out of my yahoo email account and got to the bottom to find a bunch of emails from Tomdnl. Sure do miss him. The founder of our
little empire was a good guy who inspired me in many ways. He liked my photos and gave me my nickname. I hope he reads these things to see what he started.

Not a lot going on here. Weather still sunny, but not real warm. Might have had a touch of frost this AM or maybe there isn't enough humidity. Seemed
chilly enough.
Doing another pitch and purge on my shed/shop. Sure gets cluttered in a hurry. Think I inherited a packrat gene from my Dad. Tossing out some bits of lumber that at the time were too good to throw away and are now in the way. If the shed was bigger there would be more junk to go through. Was hoping to find a countersink bit that I though fell behind the bench, but no luck so far. Been reading Lonesome Dove. I'm not a big Western fan, but am enjoying it. Think I'll pick up another McMurtry novel after this one's finished. Curious if this is his normal writing style. Well, that's about it for the day. Tom in SoCal |

Some of McMurtry's stuff is good some is sorry. He is a quirky writer for sure. I don't think many toe the same line as Lonesome Dove though.

Cisco, the storm might hit us, but the snow is predicted around Saturday thru Monday. The predictions will change by tomorrow.
I read Lonesome Dove and then Streets of Laredo(I think that was the name). I read them before the mini-series. I have also read a lot of James Mitchner, in fact most of his books. Centennial was hard to get thru the first chapter, as are most of his books, but they were all good. I have read all the Zane Grey, and all but a few of (I'm getting a senior moment right now), Louis La'Moure (sp). In fact, I donated seventy five of his and Grey's books for the guys in Iraq a couple years ago. They were all new books that were read only once. Stan, what shape was the 24/47? I picked up one back in August at the Reno gunshow and put $175 on it. I have no idea what they are worth. Mausers are hard to sell here, at least for what they are worth. Most people don't recognize the value of the rarer ones. If I could get pictures on the computer I would sell them on Gunbroker. Kevin in Or. |

I got a couple of 24/47 a week or so ago and they look nice. I'm pricing them at $200 but will come down a little. Not gonna give them away but then
again no sense in hanging on to stuff I don't care for. Mausers just don't turn me on. Except for Swedish mausers. Oohh. Big Swedish boner there.

50's and rain this AM and about the same with just occasional drizzle tonight. I finally got the FN49 done and it looks pretty good. The bore is horrid
though from what I can see. My dang bore light broke tonight so I was using the shop lights to clean it. The wood sure is nice on that though it has been
sanded for sure.
Went to the VA hospital today and had a combination 6 month physical and follow up on the sinus infection which does seem to be getting better. I am sorry to say they found I have an erratic heart beat and will check further into it next week. He wanted me to go right into the hospital but I nixed that till Monday. Hell I have a hot date tomorrow night and at my age it could be my last for all I know? He gave me some meds and told me not to over stress myself and if I feel worse get my butt in there quick. I went home and then decided to go downtown and eat with some friends that called. I was heading for the shop after eating and while sitting at a light some woman in a van wailed the back of the truck. Sure No stress Right? If she had been on the cell phone I would be in the cell tonight for homicide! No stress there at all doc! One never knows what could be a really bad day until you look around and see what other people are going through. I am blessed regardless of what happens here. Well I am beat so let's see if I can sleep or not tonight! Y'all be good and I'll know next week what is ahead for me. Bill |

No oyster or clam sales today. Clams especially are more of a luxury item, so the sales fall off fast in a slow economy. Oysters are cheaper, so although sales
are down some, they are moving better than clams. I worked on bags and screens this morning. It was threatening to rain, so the roofers didn't show. It
rained over night, and this morning some thunderstorms moved by at daylight, but they stayed offshore. It didn't rain until about four this afternoon, and
it is supposed to set in tonight and rain all day Thursday. We got Bill out of daycare at noon, and went out in the boat to get a couple of Christmas trees. We
walked all around one island, and he picked one out for his house. Lots of deer and raccoon tracks, and even one set of bobcat tracks. It was kind of tough
going for the little fellow, in some places the marsh grass was as tall as he was. He was mud from the waist down, and dragging a couple of crab trap floats he
found up in the marsh. He thought his daddy would want them. We got my tree from a dike around a dredge spoil area, and had to run the boat around the island
to pick up the pile of floats etc we had left there. While we were there, we ran to another island, and I let Bill pick up some pieces of Indian pottery. It
started to rain then so we came back in. I dropped him and his tree off at his house when my daughter got home, and ran up to G'town to get a few things
and some gas. $1.49 a gallon. Some difference from the summer. Highway diesel was 2.54.
I have read most of Zane Grey, Louis L'Amour, and Luke Short. I tell people that I had to quit shrimping when Louis L'Amour died because I didn't have anything new to read. Even on a small boat like mine, it can get boring making two hour tows. I would read to help pass the time. Michener really wrote some epics. |

23 degrees here at 3 am. I like cold weather although I have to give the dogs water more often than in summer. Last week it was 70 here. Like they say, if
you don't like the weather in Oklahoma just wait a day or two.

The 24/47 I sold was absolutely like a new gun.I think it might be one of the most accurate rifles I have ever owned.I see a lot of 24/47's with mismatched
upper handguard.Mine was numbered and matching. The go for anywhere from $165 to $225.
Blond girls with big boobs. Now there's a lovely thought. Yeah, old Tomdanl would be pleased that this place is still together. He and I used to sit and talk about guns,Tupperwear,MRE hot chocolate and a lot of other things at the gun shows. He always had a gun he was going to think about selling.I miss him too. Swedish blondes with big boobs don't turn me on. I'm a brunette with big boobs, therefore big boobs don't do it for me period. So I guess my new handle is Emul8 the Fag. Maybe I can get a little reprieve since I like Swedish Mausers...even though I don't yet have one.

Sorry Octa. I am the rude and crude one here and will try to do better. Tom probably wouldn't have approved of that comment either.

Not to worry Swede556! If nothing else, your posts at times amuse me and make me work to come up with some retort...all in good fun! Akitaholic did actually
hit on something that reminded me of a good friend with the whole dominatrix thing...my friend used to say that I missed my calling by not becoming a
dominatrix and that had he not been married he would have gladly utilized my services. You don't even want to know what I said to him after that! LOL!
