Posts: 1683 (12/14/08 07:36 PM) Icon of Geezerhood Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tags : None Yesterday we drove to my nephew's place in the country.This is near Columbus,Ga. and from here it's about 325 miles.Had our annual get together with my side of the family.My nephew has 100 acres with a nice house and a lake.It's his get away place where he deer hunts,fishes and plays on his bulldozer.Linda and I rode around the property on his gas golf cart.What a great place! Next year the nephew,my brother in law and I are going to get together for a deer hunting weekend there. We had ,as usual, a great time and finally dragged in here about 8PM last night. Today we were out finishing Christmas shopping.We went to O'Charley's for prime rib lunch. Stan The more I listen,the more I hear....and vice versa. The LT-2 sight adjuster.Have you adjusted today? Geezer is as geezer does.

Hit a high of 29F today, warmer than expected. Snowed off and on all day. I got the laundry done and chased the animals around with the vacuum cleaner, cooked a pot of beans, ran out of box wine and that was about it. Also had a nice phone visit with my son for about an hour +. I have a lot of cleaning up of stuff and just don't feel like doing it. This week I have to do my Christmas shopping. I probably should mail some cards to the in-laws and a couple friends. The only shopping I have to do is for myself, the dog and cats. No plans for Christmas, my son has to work and he is 300 miles away. Too far to drive in this weather. That is about it from here. Kevin in Or.

I made a big pot of chili so the whole clan came over to demolish it. Lookin' for freezing rain and all kinds of nasty stuff tomorrow. We will have my whole family plus a few others here for Christmas day. Ash Iron Construction

Gun show 3 days and tonight a trip downtown to a friends Xmas Party and big announcement. They are changing hands in my favorite little downtown restaurant. Same cooks ans waitresses but the cook and family are taking it over as owners. The present owner to complicate things had her car stolen and totaled Friday so things are needless to say in a state of flux with her. What a mess! I worked as part of a 3 person team with 5 tables at a local gun show and did very, very, well! I moved a lot of stuff and bought over 1,000 rounds of ammo of various caliber, got 4 40 round AK mags, bought a Mosin parts rifle, and various other little tidbits and still came home with a good chunk of change for the bank account. Best Gun Show I have done all year! I am so tired I think I will hit bed for now. Off to the Hospital for tests in the AM so I will be among the missing for a few days I guess. Y'all behave yourselves! Bill

I piddled around here until time for church. I wasn't paying attention to the time and was a few minutes late. We have a brunch in the parish house after, so that was lunch. Then I went out oystering until dark. It was an extremely low tide. The night of the full moon, they said that it was the largest moon in about 15yrs. I assume it was because it was so close. That would also explain the very low tide, closer moon means more gravitational influence. Some "community organizers" in N. Charleston started a gun turn in program to get guns off the street, trying to reduce gun violence. They are taking the guns and cutting them up and melting them down. There was a picture in the paper today of two officers carrying some long guns in. It turned out that they had been his father's guns and this guy had them locked in a closet and was "feeling unsafe with them around the house." I guess his father had died and left them to him. The four I could see were a Garand, an M1 carbine, a Finn M39, and a sporting rifle. A fifth gun looked like a Finn M91 or 91/30. It was behind two others, but you could see the end of the barrel, and a wire hanger on the bottom of the butstock for a sling like the Finns have. All I could see of the 6th was that it had a straight bolt. It is a shame to see good, collectable guns cut up and melted down. He probably threw away close to $2000 worth of guns. His father should have taught him better. How often is a bolt gun or even a Garand used in a crime?? Some people just have no sense. I guess it makes the ones we have more valuable, but it is still a shame.

We'll see you when you get back! I am FREEZING here in this big ol' house, but I am trying my best to wait until I get desperate to crank up the furnace. Having spent $1100.00 on propane last winter really rubbed me the wrong way and I am trying to avoid doing that again. So, for the time being, it's space heaters, layering my clothing and passive solar heating until it gets unbearable, and then I will only use the furnace to take the worst of the chill off. Right now in the overcast Rio Grande valley it's 30 degrees and there's a mild (but cold nonetheless) breeze coming out of the northwest. We got a very light dusting of snow on Friday, but I think we're going to get some more by morning. I read somewhere that this winter here in NM is going to be colder than previous years, so I have tried to plan accordingly and my best effort so far has been a feather/down comforter that I bought from Overstock.com for $35.00, shipped! Man, that thing is SO warm...at times it's almost too warm and I have to stick a foot out just to cool off a bit. However, I suspect that when the really cold days come, I will be even more thankful that I got it. I have it in a duvet cover so making the bed in the morning is F-A-S-T...I just shake it out, fluff it up (though for $35.00 I wasn't expecting too much actual loft) and I'm done! My ugly little dog likes it too! What a testimonial, eh? Rustybore...I am doing nothing for Christmas either. All religious matters aside, I used to make a prime rib dinner for the holiday but as there's no one around here upon whom to lavish my skills, there's really no need for me to make the effort. I don't really feel like doing that sort of spread for myself, so maybe I will just finagle an invitation to someone else's house, or go have dinner out. I still don't really know what I will do, but not in a bad way...it's actually something of a relief to not have to feel that sort of commitment anymore! OK well, I am off to do a little research for wireless service because I don't want to have a contract anymore, and actually would prefer not to even have a cell phone, but there are times when they come in handy...I just don't want to pay a lot for the dubious honor. I t was 70 degrees 3 days ago. No wonder all of us are sick. Terry Ain't life grand? It never goes as planned. It's a ride you can't get off until it ends.
