I'm telling you people, get a down or down/feather comforter...low tech and WARM! It's 54 degrees IN MY BEDROOM right now but when I get under that comforter I'd never know that it's so chilly in my room. I'm convinced that I should have invested in a down/feather comforter years ago. I have to admit to "cheating" a little at night though...I use an electric space heater for about 3 hours as I am drifting off to sleep -- just to circulate enough heat through the room to make dozing off easier.

The idea of waking up with my bedding practically on fire isn't exactly making want to race out and get an electric blanket! If I find that my comforter isn't up to things getting colder, I always have a few Pendleton blankets I can toss on. Feathers and wool...how delightful is that?

Now to be a little more on topic...I still have a bazillion rounds of 7.62x39 Wolf ammo from a few years back when I bought two cases of it from J&G Sales. I usually only put about 20-30 rounds through whichever SKS I'm shooting when I go shooting, and that's not as often as I'd like. I don't know if the Wolf version is comparable to the Hot Shot stuff, but the Wolf is very reliable, accurate and not too terribly dirty -- though I treat just about all ammo as if it's corrosive just to be on the safe side.

I haven't tried 8mm Romanian ammo, I still have a LOT of Greek 8mm ammo that I ordered from Century some years ago as well. When I was in CA I ordered lead-core bullets and replaced the steel-core Greek bullets so I could shoot at CA ranges. At the same time, I reloaded the cases with reduced charges in order to shoot my Turkish Mauser...but I only did about 20 rounds. As I recall, there wasn't a tremendous variance in the powder charges from cartridge to cartridge with the Greek. Not like some old copper-washed Russian 7.62x54R that I once reloaded...man, there were variances of up to 5 grains of powder in any 5 cartridges...it was kind of scary. That Russian 7.62x54R kicked my butt before I reloaded it -- and it smelled awful too. At any rate, the Greek 8mm is/was very good ammo, though I can't say how it might compare with the 8mm Romanian.

I like to try milsurp ammo when I can...often the prices are better than commercial ammo and occasionally, you can find some really excellent stuff, which, of course you can't easily find again, LOL! I guess that's why reloading is a hobby unto itself, eh, there's a lot to be said for consistency and availability!

You know what I really love about NM? In my office, the administrative section anyway, there are usually 4 or 5 women working closely together...now, that's a nightmare in the making even for me at times, but on the days when we're all talking about guns it's kind of nifty! And we talk about guns pretty frequently...naturally, I know more about guns than most of the women in my life, but I like educating others about guns and shooting, and even the deputies and detectives will discuss guns with me because they realize that I actually do know what I am blathering about!

The other day I was helping a detective with some computer issues and he had been viewing an email that had photos of different handguns. Anyway, he closed down the email but not before I caught a glimpse of the handgun in a photo, so I said "Ooo, nice T/C Contender." The detective looked at me with his mouth open, I smiled, shrugged and said "What can I say, I like guns!" I love to shock the heck outta these guys!
