Good morning all. Partly cloudy this morning with some slow moving scattered showers around. We had one about 45mins ago, but it is about over now with some
blue sky showing. Not enough breeze to tell what direction it is from, but the storms are moving in from the SE. 68 to start this morning, but heading for low
80s later.
I have been making some repairs on the boat, and luckily, I got a coat of paint on the conveyor when I got in from clamming yesterday evening. I was replacing a chafing board on the side, and when I got the old one off, there was a good bit of rust under it. I got it chipped and wire brushed, and got a coat of primer on it before I went out, but the primer doesn't seal it like a finish coat. I still had enough time before dark to get the next coat on, so now I can get another coat on when it dries out from the rain this morning, and get a new board on. I have to get fuel and ice this morning, too. This afternoon I will run it down to the Isle of Palms where I will work tomorrow.
They just broke in the news with the announcement that OB's nomination for the supreme court is Sonia Sotomayor, an activist Hispanic judge who believes in writing law from the bench. It took FDR ten years to stack the bench to the point where he could negate the 10th amendment. I remember learning way back when, thet the three branches of the government were supposed to be a system of checks and balances. The added plus for the Dems is that if the Republicans fight it, they lose the Hispanic vote in the next couple of elections, and the Hispanics are the fastest growing block in the population. The stimulus money will start coming out in 2010, another move to get votes for the Dems. I am very afraid for the future of this country.
