Sunday Linda and are are leaving here for a four day no itenerary trip up the Blue Ridge Parkway.If I see the ghost of Tom we will have a nice visit. Cisco,we got in some 9mm Glock magazines with 33 round capacity.They fit a model 17 if you happen to need one or two and cannot find them there.I think you are the only one here who shoots Glock.If I am wrong the offer applies to whomever.They are kinda pricey at $35.95. Like a fundamentalist preacher meeting Satan. They'd go totally bonkers. Nice day here, bit warm, with a little breeze, slight overcast to keep things from getting too hot. Took the subway downtown to pick up some Euros for the trip, on the way back a bunch of people who went to the Lakers' victory parade boarded at the nearest station to Staples Center. The MTA ran extra-length trains to carry the overload (someone actually used their brains) so it didn't get too crowded. Somehow I lucked out choosing a seat, as the car door was just by the escalator at my stop and I was able to get out quick. Walking around downtown, the new financial district is really modern, while the old part, which used to be the shopping district, is pretty third-world. Lots of 8 and 10 story buildings with just the bottom few floors being visibly used. I'd sort of like to take a walk through the one I used to work in for so many years, but it might just be too depressing. Terry, spammer alert, General Matters section. Tom in SoCal

I got one last week before anyone but me saw it but that was just blind dumb luck. Last night I bent over to take out some ice from the freezer and my back hit me like a baseball bat to the kidneys. I went to my knees and hollered for Step to come help me up. She put some of those heat patches on my back and then suggested that I take one of her pain pills. That was the last thing I remembered until 3 am this morning when I woke up in my backyard redneck recliner. My back felt better but once I wake up I am up. Went to a Mexican place at noon then at 4 the widow next door wanted to go to our regular cafe. We went but I was still stuffed from quesadillas, tortillas, and guacamole. I have supper or breakfast in a to-go box. Tom I kinda figure those California politicians would crap their pants if they saw what I have. 32 rounds of 9mm go in less than 10 seconds. 4 seconds with the Cobray. Say buzz for 4 seconds and that's how fast it is. Can't hit anything with it but I would not want to be downrange. The Sten is still the best A-gun I have ever fired, just slightly ahead of the BAR. She is bummed out because it has been raining all day there too. It hasn't made it down here yet. NE breeze here kept it cool, maybe mid 80s. It looked like it might rain this afternoon, but it cleared off with out raining. No clam sales for a couple of days, so I went out this morning and planted some clams. When I got back in, I checked the animals, and one of the Guinea hens that had been sitting on a nest was fussing, so I went to see what was going on. She had hatched out (as near as I could count-they wouldn't stay still) 24 chicks. She was setting on 30 eggs. There were about 75 when I first found the nest, but I took most of them. Some of the eggs were probably two months old when she started setting. I am surprised she got that many to hatch. So far she is a good mother hen. Not as good as a chicken would be, but good for a guinea. A couple of the last ones to hatch were having trouble keeping up with her, but she still had them all at the end of the day. Terry, I did the same thing to my back one time. I was getting on the boat one morning, carrying two gas cans. I swung them across the waist on the big boat as I was stepping across from the barge. I set them down, and my back locked up. I thought I could tough it out and stretch it straight. Nope. I could barely crawl back across the barge, and I don't remember how I got up to the dock. I went to the Dr's office when he opened, and he said it was muscle spasms. He gave me a dose of some muscle relaxer, and good as new the next day.

Posts: 383 (06/17/09 11:29 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Woke up to wet concrete this AM and everyone I talk to says they are amazed I slept through the downpour we had. I woke up at 4:45 AM when my neighbor went out in his big truck but the next thing I remember was 8:30 AM and I got up and ate. I watched a great show on the History Channel I think about catapults and such. It was fascinating! Tonight WVChuck came up with wife and younger son to watch the grand review of the troops at Boys State Camp in nearby Jackson's Mill campus of WVU. Chuck's oldest was in the color guard and carried the Marine Corp flag proudly. Semper Phi! He looked great and one could tell was very proud! They marched to the tune of the WV state anthem. It was very stirring and the boys looked great on the review field! I really enjoyed seeing Chip out there looking so proud and I am sure Chuck did too. His wife informed me the Marine recruiter had called and told her what a great marine he would make and she told him to call back after college! I guess the guy was impressed with the fact Chip can field-strip and clean an AR-15 in less time than he could! The boy has been shooting and working on rifles since he has been very young with Chuck as his teacher so he learned the right way and the quick way. I really enjoyed the program! We cut it an hour short as Chuck then had a 3 and 1/2 hour drive home plus he has to come back up Friday to pick Chip up and take him home in time for next week at another Church sponsored camp. Chip said the keep him busy all the time and he is a SGT in the National Guard in camp. They portray all the state positions in the government and do all the jobs they would do if it was real life. Quite a great experience for a kid I would think to take through life. We got a fairly nice Bulgarian Makarov in 19x18 or 9mmMakarov today at the shop with a holster but I am not going to look too hard at it as I hoping to go to Greensburg show this weekend. I dragged Chuck kicking and screaming out of the shop today or we never would have made the review. He took one look at the back room and started mumbling incoherently something about so many rifles so little time! I had to slap him around a little to get him back to earth! I think he thought he had died and went to rifle heaven or something, He fell in love with a 1916 date all matching artillery Luger we have with a whole accessory kit and stock. I said Chuck do you know you are foaming at the mouth and it is embarrassing me a bit? Nah he behaved well he just didn't want to leave just yet! Well I am pooped and if the weather is right I am off to Clarksburg tomorrow to pick up some shoes I special ordered earlier this month. Thunder storms all around me tonight and very humid but little in the way of showers here at the house. I am sure Chuck probably hit some on the way home so he is probably beat from the long drive! Y'all behave and enjoy life! Bill

I met with the power company this morning out at my property. I have some paper work to get done for that project. I went by the county planning dept. to get some papers filed and they were closed at three today. No matter, as I had to go by Stapels and buy some more ink for the printer. I have litterly gone thru more than a ream of paper on these Hawaii inspections I have to do. I also got a big inspection assigned to me this morning. I am headed out in the morning to the Portland area to inspect the nursery, back home Friday. My father-in-law passed away this morning, also. Yesterday the doctor, today the FIL. The funeral is Tuesday down in Ca. I have an important meeting that day and I told my sisters in laws that I probably won't make the funeral. I won't get back from my meeting till Wed., and I fly out Thurs. for Hawaii. I checked into flights to go south, but there just aren't any good ones to get there and back. I'm still molling it around in my mind as to what to do. Kevin in Or.

No rain, just lots and lots of deer. We stopped counting them after we hit 100 or so...not with the jeep, but the numbers... It amazed me as to how close some of them were to the pavement, some were wandering around on the emergency/pull off section just past the white solid line! Around here, the only ones that close to the road are laying down in a bloody pile. Had to stop and squeegee off the windshield after some 1lb gob of liquified bug hit the windshield @ 65mph. It was about the size of a softball on impact. I said to my wife, you can't help but wonder what the last thing that went through that bug's mind as it hit..... She was sort of suprised when I replied, I figure the last thing through it's head was it's butt.

He has this problem being a native WVinian! Something about Deliverance Banjo music or something? I am going crazy sneezing here and maybe that is what happened to Semper Fi, I can't remember back that far. Something out at the Fairgrounds has got my allergies in high gear. I will have to take something or sneeze to death and scratch my eyes out of my head. This is complicated completely by the heart meds and that situation, Later! Bill
