What happened to my mountain weather? Ever since Chuck has been visiting up here the weather has changed? We are keeping the world from tilting today, he is coming up to Weston to pick up Chip and I am heading to Charleston to check out a gun show down there. Tomorrow I head for Greensburg for a show up there. Somewhere in this day I have to get a million other things done too! We are supposed to have some possible severe weather today and tonight and already my phone is coming and going! That will probably put the final touch on it! Worked on rifles till the wee hours last night to try and improve the bores and wood finish a bit as the people seem to be tending toward improved finishes lately in Milsurps. I hate to do anything to the finish other than a coat of oil but these rifles seem to be a problem to move as of late. It is much against my thoughts and values to do anything to finishes but I need to make something move here a bit. Used some Cotton Kleanser on the wood and patches came off black as the devil so I guess all I moved was dirt and such and they do look nicer to the eye. Well I need to run and get going here! Have a nice weekend all! Oh by the way Chuck is busier than a one armed paperhanger with a growing family and many things to cut and clean in the summer so I would guess we might just see and occasional visit at best! Bill

Posts: 1908 (06/19/09 08:11 PM) Icon of Geezerhood Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	I ordered a Tokarev pistol today and a 1224 round can of ammunition.I have been considering doing so for several weeks and the deciding factor was the relative cheapness of the bullets.It is odd that SOG has two listed from Yugoslavia and from Romania and one is C&R eligible and one is not.I ordered the C&R Romanian one.The ammunition is also Romanian. It is hot as hades here.Humidity is wayyyy up there. Stan The more I listen,the more I hear....and vice versa. The LT-2 sight adjuster.Have you adjusted today? Geezer is as geezer does.

You'll especially like how ejected empties are thrown 20 to 30 feet to the right and how that and the sharp muzzle report runs people off the firing line. The action is nearly identical to the 1911 Colt but has a unitized hammer and sear set up. While it also has a barrel bushing like the .45 the bushing only acts as a barrel guide and not as a removal point for the recoil spring. That can be a little tricky to learn to manipulate so be careful for flying recoil springs as you remove or install the slide. Corrosive ammo is not a big cleanup chore either with this pistol. Recoil flips the muzzle up but the light slugs don't impact your hand very hard. Have fun with it and watch the reaction of people who are around you when you cut loose with it. Bama Geezer

I took a shower after work then had to take another after just walking around the yard deadheading day lillies and checking the deer fence. I have been bidding quite a bit of work lately. Not my idea, exactly. Hot humid and 1/4" downpours here, then back to hot and humid. Loads of fun. Tokarevs are my favorite pistols here lately. I have learned to reload with cast bullets as well as pulled surplus, have 6 varieties now. My Romanian is my shooter though, you will like it Stan.

It helps that the same ammo will also shoot in a CZ52 which I don't like nearly as well as the tok. Mine is Polish C&R. As someone said they do clear the range. Loud bastards but both of mine are very accurate, especially with the Romanian ammo. I load for them too but for the price of surplus it just doesn't pay. I got the Walther bb 3 shot burst gun yesterday but the dang co2 cartridges won't screw in far enough to pierce. I ordered Crossman cartridges and today ordered the Walther brand. You would think that all 88 grams co2 cartridges would be the same. Guess I'll see when the Walther co2 comes. The place I got the bb gun from hasn't responded yet. Terry in OKC

I had plans to reload for it, but after chasing brass all over, and only finding about half of it, I decided to just have fun and shoot surplus. It is warming up here. Low 90's today, maybe over 100 tomorrow, and upper 90s Sunday. It was a good day to be out in the water. I didn't even mind that the tide didn't go as low as it was supposed to. It was cooler in the water than out of it. The dock had a big order for clams, so I got as much as I could. It didn't take long to harvest them, but the sorting and counting took several hours, and I was out of the water for most of that. I didn't want the clams to be in the sun, so once I got them harvested, I left them in the water until the tide came up and I couldn't reach them. Then I moved to a small drain that was shallower and put them back in the water. I pulled them out as I needed more, and once I got a bag counted, I put it back in the water. It was going to be a big tide, so it came up fast. I had to keep pulling the bags up higher on the bank as it did to keep them within reach. A lot of work and a long day.
